About the Department for Correctional Services
The Department employs approximately 2,000 staff and has responsibility for nine prisons and sixteen Community Correctional offices across the state. Our vision is for a safer community by protecting the public and reducing re-offending. Duties
The Institutional Social Worker, Cadell Training Centre, is accountable to the Manager Offender Development, Cadell Training Centre, for contributing to the provision of a comprehensive offence focussed social work service for sentenced prisoners.  This service provision results in the safe, secure, humane management of offenders throughout their custodial sentence.
The Institutional Social Worker, Cadell Training Centre, also provides consultation and training for institutional custodial staff in their provision of quality service under case management and throughcare principles.

Special Conditions

  • Section 47 of the Public Sector Act 2009 applies in conjunction with other provisions of the act and other applicable industrial entitlements.
  • The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a National Criminal History Check;
  • A current South Australian Driver’s Licence is essential;
  • A flexible approach to working hours is required;
  • Some interstate and intrastate travel will be required which may necessitate overnight absences.

Requirements
AHP: A degree level qualification in Social Work leading to eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers

AHP2 ($85,665 – $99,241pa)

Additional Information

This is an ongoing vacancy.
This position is located at Cadell Training Centre which is in the Riverland region, approximately 2 hours from Adelaide.
It is a requirement for any non-ongoing DCS employees to be fully vaccinated with a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved COVID-19 vaccination.
