The Salvation Army Inner Gippsland Family Violence Services provide support and assistance to victim-survivors, their children and perpetrators of Family Violence.

The Family Violence Outreach Service reports into the Family Violence Stream, Victoria located at The Salvation Army in Leongatha and provides support and assistance to Victim Survivors of Family Violence and their Children to build a life free from violence.

The Service provides case work in a range of different intensities, from brief crisis response to long term case management to promote the safety, wellbeing and recovery of the Victim Survivor and their children providing assistance with risk assessment and safety planning; advocacy and liaison with Police and Courts and, referrals to appropriate services to improve outcomes for this vulnerable group. The service also provides services to rural and regional areas across South Gippsland and Bass Coast and where required will link and support Victim Survivors out of region to ensure they continue to be supported and service delivery is guided by best practice frameworks of governing and peak bodies, Family Safety Victoria, Safe and Equal, Gippsland Women’s Health.

Why this role matters

We are seeking a values driven Case Manager to:

  • Build trust and rapport with victim survivors of family violence and their children and comprehensively and continuously develop safety plans and risk management strategies
  • Undertake a holistic assessment of presenting issues for victim survivors of family violence and their children and develop a case plan to identify steps to meeting the needs/goals of the Victim Survivor, with review
  • Work in partnership with the Victim Survivor, acknowledging and supporting their strengths, capabilities, and survival strategies, to empower them to achieve their goals and regain control of their lives
  • Support with access to, information, advocacy, and referrals to support the Victim Survivor to exercise their rights, make informed decisions, navigate the service system
  • Identify high risk Victim Survivors and provide appropriate professional referrals to the Risk Assessment Management Panel (RAMP) as required
  • Liaise and network with relevant community groups and agencies, and facilitate linkages with services and programs, to improve the safety and wellbeing of the Victim Survivor, as well as access for the Victim Survivors
  • Provide practical assistance to find safe, secure, affordable housing and information, advice and referrals to appropriate services which promote healing and recovery

This is a part time maximum term position, 30.4 hours per week to December 2023 based in Leongatha. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award, Level 5.

What we’re looking for

  • *A minimum Bachelor level qualification in Social Work or related discipline or recent employment in the family violence sector or equivalency met through the 7 Equivalency Principles in line with the minimum mandatory qualification requirements
  • Demonstrated experience working within Family Violence programs
  • Strong and authentic interpersonal skills with experience working with a range of clients
  • Understanding of the complexities that come with working in Family Violence
  • Understanding of the MARAM Framework, The Safe and Equal Code of Conduct for Specialist Family Violence Services, Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme, Children’s Information Sharing Sche
  • Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
  • Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
