Salary: $96,678 – $105,607 p.a. + super

Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health service. We provide culturally appropriate, family centred, comprehensive primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.
About the Opportunity
Working as part of a multidisciplinary Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) this position provides psychological services consistent with the Apunipima Way and Model of Care, to maximise health outcomes for the people of Cape York.
A typical week involves flying out from Cairns on Monday morning and returning to Cairns on Friday. You will be provided with accommodation and a travel allowance as a FIFO employee.
It is a condition of employment for this position that the employee be vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with organisational policy requirements.
Pre-employment screening for vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases will be conducted for the successful applicant.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Psychology qualification from a registered tertiary institution, registration with the Australian Health Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and possession of a current annual licence certificate
- Demonstrated high level knowledge and skills in evidence based therapeutic interventions for individuals, families and communities with complex needs, with a particular focus on mental health, substance misuse, addictions, grief and loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, body image and identity, family violence, sexual abuse/assault and maintaining healthy lifestyles
- Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs
