ABOUT THE ROLE

We currently have a full-time maximum-term contract opportunity until 30 June 2023 in our Diversion Team.  This would be a fantastic role for a new graduate who is looking to for an opportunity in a not-for-profit supported by an experienced team to help you build your skill set, or a current part-time LLW staff member looking to increase their hours. 

As a Diversion Counsellor, you will provide delivery of diversion programs including the Drug and Alcohol Assessment Referral (DAAR) course, and Police and Court Diversion (PCD) Programs. 

 

Duties will include:

  • provision of evidence-based counselling using approved clinical modules. 
  • provision of face-to-face and telephone assessment, information and education, and brief intervention to clients referred through the DAAR or PCD programs.
  • maintaining appropriate clinical records in line with DAAR/PCD program requirements and LLW policies and procedures.
  • participation in team meetings, case conferencing, and clinical supervision.
  • undertaking responsibilities following LLW policies and procedures. 

 

The role will be based in Capalaba and Spring Hill with support provided by the Diversion & Systems Coordinator and a team of Diversion Counsellors based across Queensland.  

The base salary range for this role is $34.04 – $36.50 per hour + super (10.5%), depending on skills, knowledge and experience. 

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will undergo comprehensive induction and ongoing support through training and education. 

 

ABOUT YOU

You are an engaging individual with the ability to connect with clients who are navigating mental health challenges and difficult life experiences. You can work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team and utilise the appropriate techniques to support your clients. You will also demonstrate the following:

 

We are looking for a passionate professional with:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in a related health service discipline or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience providing assessment and counselling to clients with alcohol and other drug concerns.
  3. Demonstrated clinical skills or knowledge of assessment and brief intervention strategies.
  4. Sound understanding of the professional, ethical and legal requirements that underpin the treatment and clinical management of substance use.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  6. Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  7. Proficient in MS Office applications and ability to learn CRM.
