This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, experienced family violence counsellor to join Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV).
RAV is a secular, community-based, not-for-profit organisation with no religious affiliations who have been providing services to the Victorian community for over 70 years. About the role
Reporting to the Senior Manager Southern and Eastern Melbourne, this specialist child focused role has responsibility for the delivery of the children’s counselling component of the “Child and Adult Person Experiencing Family Violence Counselling Program”.
Counselling will be provided in 50-minute sessions and can include somatic therapy and family activities and additional case management, where required. Interventions need to be trauma informed, culturally responsive and secure to support engagement, and reduce the re-traumatisation of children exposed to family violence.
This role is located in Shepparton, Central Victoria, is permanent, part-time positions working four (4) days per week.
Qualifications, skills and experience
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, counselling, or family therapy.
- Significant demonstrated experience working with children and families, from a child-centred and strength-based perspective, in a setting relevant to the role.
- Understanding of family violence risk assessment and management including the MARAM framework and it’s application to ensure the safety of children and their families/carers.
- Understanding of child development and the impact of adverse life events on children’s development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven organisation skills with the ability to prioritise and manage own workload to meet timeframes and job-related expectations.
- Familiarity with the child protection system, The Orange Door, local mental health services and family violence service sector.
