JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Cooktown/Wujal Wujal/Hope Vale servicing Cape York communities 
Status: Full Time Fixed Term (until 30/06/2023) 
Salary: $100,995 – $108,670 p.a. + super

About Us
Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health service. We provide culturally appropriate, family centred, comprehensive primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York. 

About the Opportunity 
The Coordinator – Strong Mob Program is responsible for developing and implementing Stay Strong Plans for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people with a mental health condition, in partnership with government agencies, children and their families, carers and other stakeholders.

It is a condition of employment for this position that the employee be vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with organisational policy requirements.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Certificate IV in Community Services, Mental Health or equivalent in a relevant discipline with the willingness to work towards a Diploma in the same disciplines
  • Experience in a similar position developing and implementing care plans for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people with mental health support needs
  • Experience managing competing priorities and delivering high quality outcomes within agreed timeframes
  • Experience working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work autonomously and carry out agreed Stay Strong Plans for multiple clients simultaneously
  • Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs
  • Current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement
