Psychologist or Mental Health Social Worker Cova Psychology

JOB DESCRIPTION

Looking to join a practice which has a focus on providing therapists with strong clinical support? Do you want opportunities to grow as a therapist and expand your skill-set?

We are looking for a passionate Psychologist or Mental Health Social Worker to join our practice, Cova Psychology. At Cova, we focus on providing clinicians with ample support regarding the business, administrative and clinical aspects of private practice, including formal individual and peer clinical supervision. Our workplace is friendly and cohesive, where clinicians can consult alongside each other in a way that is rewarding and enables the best clinical outcomes for our clients.

The therapists at Cova vary in terms of their therapeutic backgrounds and level of experience. As a team, we share a passion for delivering high quality, client-centred clinical care. We welcome applicants who share these values, whatever their level of experience, and we very much welcome therapists who are keen to learn, build their confidence, and expand their skillset!

As part of coming on board, you also have the option to learn how to treat clients using Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR). This involves Cova providing you with EMDR training from an accredited EMDR trainer, as well as ongoing support and supervision whilst you learn how to apply this technique in your work. If you are looking to expand and enrich your therapeutic skillset in a supported environment, this opportunity could be for you!

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US…

Strong Administrative Support: Our team of friendly and professional administrative staff are full-time (incl. our Office Manager) and can support you in all aspects of client management, from intake to setting up appointments, billing, organising telehealth, scoring questionnaires, and so on.

Clinical Supervision, Training, and Support: Drs Sarah Valentine and Chris Coleiro are the Directors and Principal Psychologists of Cova Psychology. We are both endorsed Clinical Psychologists and Board-Approved Supervisors, with more than 25 years of clinical experience between us. At Cova Psychology, as well as providing regular individual supervision and monthly peer supervision, Sarah and Chris are always available for support and guidance whenever required.

Sarah and Chris provide supervision and training in relation to a range of areas including Mood Disorders, PTSD and Complex Trauma, Personality Issues, Eating Disorders, Gender Variance, and draw from a range of therapeutic backgrounds including CBT, mindfulness-based interventions, DBT, Schema Therapy, and EMDR.

Work that Interests You: Cova Psychology attracts a broad range of client demographics and clinical populations and as such we are keen for our therapists to work with the client groups which interest them. Let us know which population you’re keen to work with, and we’ll make it happen!

Welcoming Rooms and a Range of Resources: Our consulting rooms are large, comfortably furnished, with great style and aesthetics. In addition, the practice houses a client waiting area/reception, a staff kitchen, a library of books/psychometrics, as well as a range of other resources including iPads in each room, online practice management software, photocopying/scanning facilities, NBN (for telehealth), IT support, and tools for EMDR/bilateral stimulation etc.

Autonomy: You choose your hours, you choose the number and type of clients you see, you choose when you take leave…you get the picture! Whilst we have definite expectations around the quality of the clinical work at the practice, you are very much free to make your own decisions about everything else.

Attractive terms: We pride ourselves on providing a high value service to our clinicians where comprehensive and high quality support is provided at a highly competitive rate. We use a non-restrictive Services and Facilities Agreement to define our relationship with therapists and we are more than happy to discuss this with you.

Conveniently Located: We are located within a heritage listed building right up the top of Collins St (near Spring St). There are a range of public transport options which will deliver you to our doorstep. For drivers, our clients find it most convenient to park a couple of blocks away in East Melbourne, and for clinicians, there is a convenient all day multiplex car parking right next to our building.

Please read below to see some of the thoughts our team have about working at Cova Psychology…

“I joined Cova Psychology at its very start in 2019, shifting from a range of public and private service roles to my very first experience in private practice. Since then, I have been proud of being part of this team, and grateful to the Practice Directors for both their passionate and generous approach to psychological practice in this setting. They genuinely care about providing high standard care to clients, and a supportive working environment to everyone involved within the practice. They strike the perfect balance between being supportive while also empowering clinicians in being independent and autonomous. The Admin Team is friendly and efficient, providing for a great experience for clinicians and clients alike. As a clinician, I have been able to fully focus on what I love the most: providing excellent quality care to my clients—I know I wouldn’t have been able to do so without Cova’s support.”

  • Valentina Bianchi, Clinical Psychologist

“I have been working at Cova Psychology since mid 2019, and I continue to be grateful for the professionalism of the team, the friendly atmosphere, the lovely rooms, and the supportive administrative staff. Cova Psychology’s focus is on integrity, professionalism, and continuous learning through peer and individual supervision. Indeed, peer supervision often involves professional development opportunities, with the directors, Sarah and Chris, recruiting experts in the field to share their knowledge. I can highly recommend Cova Psychology to any early career or experienced psychologist looking to work in private practice.”

  • Elizabeth Tupper, Clinical Psychologist

“I recently started working for Cova Psychology and I am so impressed and delighted by the warmth and support at the practice. The principal psychologists are available and encouraging of both individual agency and comradery within the practice. The administrative staff are amazing and means that I can focus entirely on clinical work. It is a fantastic team and I would very much recommend Cova Psychology to psychologists looking for a Private Practice. “

  • Kelly Garfield, Counselling Psychologist

“Working at Cova Psychology has been such an amazing experience! I have been very lucky to have Chris and Sarah, they are incredibly supportive and understanding directors who care about their team and who continually help me grow as a provisional psychologist.”

The friendly admin staff are always there when you need them, providing high quality care. I would highly recommend working with Cova to any psychologist looking for a supportive workplace to advance their clinical skills in private practice.”

  • Monique Pittas, Provisional Psychologist

“It has been a privilege and a delight to work with the Cova Psychology Team. I commenced in September 2021 and was instantly made to feel very welcome and appreciated. The psychology team have been friendly and supportive. The admin team are fabulous and have taken care of all my administration needs with kindness, patience and, at times, good guidance, which has been a great relief for me. No more unproductive hours of tedious admin tasks. The rooms are warm and friendly and set clients at ease. The Principal Psychologists, Sarah and Chris, have provided everything that I have requested and have provided support when needed. Marketing Cova Psychology to nearby Medical Practices has been very successful and there is a constant stream of referrals. I can highly recommend Cova Psychology to any clinicians who are looking for suitable rooms.”
