Queensland is currently experiencing its worst ever Housing crisis, there are growing numbers of women and children experiencing homelessness, or who are at imminent risk of homelessness. UnitingCare delivers a number of refuge and homelessness services and is establishing a new homelessness service – Auchenflower Gardens in Brisbane.
We are seeking Intake and Assessment Practitioners to undertake triage, assessment and intake services.
Please note this position is offered on either a part-time or full-time maximum term basis until 30 June 2023, with extension beyond this term highly likely.

The Intake and Assessment Practitioner is the first point of client/agency contact and will support our clients who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness, to assist them to obtain immediate housing and work towards independent longer-term housing solutions.
What makes a difference for us?
To be successful in this role you will actively listen to ask questions and provide accurate information to determine how best to serve the client including the client’s capacity to self-help. If the client requires a referral to access support, the Intake Worker will provide a referral to the most appropriate service
In addition, you’ll have:
- Certificate IV in Community Services or related field and/or Certificate IV in Telephone Counselling Services
- Working with Children Check (under the screening provisions of the Commission for Children and Young People Act 2000). Employment is conditional upon presentation of a current Suitability Card (Blue Card), or a willingness to apply for the same.
- An open Australian driver’s license.
- A criminal history check will be conducted on the recommended person for this position.
- Completed or willing to complete ASIST Training (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training).
- Able to work some weekends.
