We are currently seeking to employ a qualified counsellor to work at James Cook University in the Brisbane Campus on a Casual basis 3 days a week. (Flexible with days).
James Cook University Brisbane (JCUB) is a campus of James Cook University operated in partnership with Russo Higher Education Pty Ltd. The Queen Street Campus offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in a range of business disciplines to international full fee paying students from a range of home countries.
As a Student Counsellor you must be motivated, proactive, open and accessible individual who can pursue outcomes for students. This role will require you to be adaptable and be able to manage shifting work priorities. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced counsellor to implement individualised support to our students.
Your role as a Student Counsellor will include:
- Working primarily with international students, supporting them during their study abroad.
- Provide support to students while working in collaboration with Student Learning Support, Academic and Administrative teams.
- providing one-on-one support to students of James Cook University Brisbane
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualification in Counselling, Social work or Psychology
- Previous experience in a professional one-on-one counselling role.
- A desire and capacity to work with clients with English as a second language
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences, particularly students from non-English speaking backgrounds.
- Initiative, problem solving skills and energy
