2 x Clinical Psychology Registrars – Grade 1

Positions

  • Two positions
  • Each position will be 0.6 FTE (5 sessions clinical work: 1 Session for Administrative tasks and formal supervision; each session 4 hours long)

Pay

  • $95000 to $105000; pro rata; based on experience

Location 

  • Cockburn Central, Perth, WA

Start Date 

  • 1 March 2023

Duration

  • 1 + 2-year contract; with the possibility of further extension

Introduction

We are looking for enthusiastic and bright Clinical Psychology Registrars to deliver group therapy program in a new Private psychiatry facility in Cockburn.

The newly formed team will deliver day therapy programs for outpatients at Bethesda Clinic, Cockburn. The work will be based in the Wellness and Recovery Centre group therapy rooms in Bethesda Clinic. 

Recruitment has been completed for a senior clinical psychologist (approved supervisor) and a senior counselling psychologist. Now we are recruiting remaining staff. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Co-facilitate with a senior colleague, the provision of group therapy for 
    • DBT 
    • Mood and Anxiety Group (Intensive CBT)
  2. Work under the professional supervision of an approved clinical psychologist and/or Senior Counselling Psychologist.
  3. Maintains client records and statistical data in accordance with established procedures and service delivery requirements.
  4. Assist in triaging client suitability for the group programs.
  5. Adheres to the policies of Equal Opportunity, Disability Services, Occupational Safety and Health, and Quality activities in all work practices.
  6. Performs other duties as required.

Essential Minimum Requirements

  1. Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and eligibility for full registration and Clinical Psychology Registrar status with the Psychology Board of Australia. 
  2. Completion of DBT training and CBT training for mood and anxiety disorders.
  3. Demonstrated capacity to work independently under approved professional supervision of a Board approved clinical psychologist in a variety of roles such as clinician, consultant, teacher, researcher/evaluator, and agent of change in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  4. Demonstrated proficiency in clinical psychological assessment, therapy and interview techniques with the target patient group.
  5. Knowledge of research, evidence-based theory and clinical practice applicable to the target patient group.
  6. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals and external agencies both on individual patient-management matters and on general service issues.
  7. A sound knowledge of the laws and ethical standards governing psychological practice.
  8. Current knowledge and commitment to legislative obligations for Equal Opportunity, Disability Services, Occupational Safety and Health, and quality-related activities, and how these impact on employment and service delivery.

Desirable Requirements

  1. Experience in the delivery of group therapy programs.
