Allied Health – Professional Crisis Assessment Treatment Team (CATT) – NW
Work within the designated region in collaboration with other staff within Community Mental Health Services, Inpatient Mental Health Services, Alcohol and Drug Services and a range of community service providers, to deliver improved outcomes and experiences for individuals presenting with mental health concerns, including those presenting to the Emergency Department (ED) North and North West.
Work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, assertive case management including triage, crisis intervention, intake and assessment and the development and implementation of care plans for designated clients in both the community and the ED.
A clinical expert who acts as a clinical resource for staff and other providers involved in the management of people with mental health concerns, including those with concurrent alcohol or drug use issues.
Support and contribute to current strategic direction and initiatives.
The Role:
- Provide discipline specific clinical expertise, supportive advice and clinical care across the broader community including in-reach into the ED as required, based on best practice principles and legal and professional requirements, using specialist assessment and screening tools to deliver improved outcomes for people presenting with mental health concerns and/or addiction-related comorbidities.
- Provide treatment recommendations and specialist support to the multidisciplinary team, other health professionals and community managed organisations as required and assist with clinical decision making and the planning, implementation and evaluation of care to facilitate a person-centred and recovery-oriented approach.
- Provide evidence-based, trauma informed assessment, specialist therapies and treatment interventions for consumers with major and complex mental health problems, including the development and implementation of these within the consumer’s home and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide brief targeted interventions, support and psychoeducation as appropriate and involve consumers and their families/significant others in the identification of their needs, formulation of goals, development of care plans and the implementation of care.

Details of Appointment:
Permanent, full time, shift work, position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible.

Base Salary: $96,689 to $114,391 per annum + 10.5% superannuation
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $105,245 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2019
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $724 per annum for the ability to accrue fund up to five years
- Post graduate qualification salary advancement where applicable
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia; or
- Degree in Social Work giving eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; or
- Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia
- Current Driver’s Licence
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Holds, or is working towards, relevant tertiary qualifications
- Five or more years’ postgraduate clinical experience
