Anglicare have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Support Worker to join our team based in Tamworth, NSW.
Anglicare is providing a Children’s (ages 5-12) Mental Health program for 2023 and is seeking a Support worker with experience in working with Children. Applicants who also have demonstrated experience working in Mental Health are highly sort after. This role is a maximum term, part time, 4 days a week till 24th December 2023. Renumeration is paid under SCHADS 4.1 award $39.26 per hour.

About the role:
Anglicare in 2023 is providing a psychosocial program for children aged 5-12 years, who are demonstrating behaviors that could be or are Mental Health issues. Or whose parents/carers have a mental illness, and the child is at risk of greater emotional, coping or behavioral issues, school and community disengagement.
Key responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Invite children to identify their needs, goals and experiences
- Help to address immediate needs and goals
- Support the child to build resilience, develop coping and problem-solving skills using the Common Approach Framework
- Support the child with mental health and wellbeing strategies
- Provide skills to build connection between parent and child
- Identify education or social goals
- Provide practical and psychosocial interventions
- Facilitate children’s access to external social supports and peer activities
- Promote positive experiences and engagement within the school community
- Facilitate access to groupwork such as Drumbeat and Art Therapy delivered by Anglicare’s accredited practitioners
- Facilitate access or arrange referral to specialist support where required
About you:
- Tertiary education required in Cert 4 or above in social work, psychology or child welfare/ community services/mental health or similar
- NSW Drivers licence
- Experience relating to and building rapport with children and identifying children’s needs
- Experience in working with people with a Mental Health issue
- Excellent observation, written and verbal communication skills
- Working with Children’s Check
- Able to pass a Criminal Check
- First Aid Certificate desirable
- Proof of Covid Vaccination is required
