ABOUT THE ROLE
True Relationships and Reproductive Health are looking for reliable, highly motivated person to join our team of Counsellors located in the Cairns.
As a Counsellor – Adult Services you will:
- Provide sexual assault counselling to adults who have been sexually assaulted, historical or recent.
- Provide acute response to victims of sexual assault when required.
- Facilitate group work.
Applicants are required to write a brief cover letter, include the names and contact details of 2 referees and on a separate page write a short response to each of the selection criteria listed below.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling to such level that entitles registration with respective professional body
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the impacts of recent sexual assault, and historical sexual abuse on women and men.
- Ability to understand appropriate legislation, best practice guidelines and knowledge of interagency protocols in relation to Adult sexual assault
- Demonstrated counselling experience in trauma practice
- Current Blue Card issued in Queensland
- Awareness of key issues in supporting an effective and safe working environment including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behavior
- Demonstrated ability to provide appropriate and timely written case notes.
- Hold registration/membership with a governing body.
- Provide digital evidence of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (minimum 2 vaccinations).
A Current Criminal history check will be required to be produced at interview.
The successful applicant will be required to hold a current “Working with Children – Blue card, issued in the State of Queensland before commencing employment and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
