JOB DESCRIPTION

We are a new practice offering the community affordable mental health care. We are seeking Psychologists to join our team, delivering exceptional mental health care services to clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and age groups. As a psychologist, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals through evidence-based interventions, assessments, and therapeutic treatments.

Responsibilities:

– Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients’ mental health conditions, including interviews, self-report questionnaires, and other assessment tools.

– Collaborate with clients to develop personalised treatment plans, tailored to their unique needs and goals.

– Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychoeducation, mindfulness, and other modalities, to help clients achieve desired outcomes.

– Maintain accurate and detailed clinical records in compliance with professional guidelines and ethical standards.

– Monitor clients’ progress throughout the treatment process, regularly evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, and making adjustments as needed.

– Consult and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive care for clients.

– Stay updated with the latest research and advancements in the field of psychology, attending professional development opportunities and participating in peer supervision or case discussions.

– Adhere to ethical and legal standards of practice, ensuring client confidentiality and providing a safe and respectful environment.

– Provide education, support, and psychoeducation to clients’ family members and caregivers, as appropriate.

Qualifications and Skills:

– Valid registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and Medicare.

– Extensive knowledge of psychological theories, interventions, and evidence-based treatments.

– Experience in administering, or extensive knowledge of and interpreting a range of psychological assessment tools.

– Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong therapeutic relationships and engage clients effectively.

– Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills to successfully work with clients from diverse backgrounds.

– Demonstrated professionalism, ethical conduct, and ongoing commitment to professional development.

– Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

– Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with electronic record-keeping systems.

Preferred Skills:

– Specialisation, experience or interest in specific areas of psychology (e.g., child and adolescent, trauma, addiction, perinatal psychology etc.).

– Experience in working with diverse communities, including Indigenous populations, culturally and linguistically diverse individuals, all ages, genders, sexuality and preference, and people from different socioeconomic backgrounds.

– Board certified supervisor or willingness to obtain. 

Must have: 

– Availability to work one weekend a month and one after-hours shift per week.

– Access to a quiet space with strong internet connection and reliable technology when working remotely.
