About the role:

We are seeking a dynamic, organised and passionate Community Service Teacher to join Melbourne Polytechnic and to inspire a love of learning in our students through excellent teaching methodologies.

There is a responsibility for planning relevant and engaging learning experiences, demonstrating a high level of curriculum knowledge, using appropriate assessment tools and recording student progress through the School’s management system. The position requires applicants to have the ability to develop inclusive learning environments, foster positive relationships and communicate with staff and students in a timely and respectful manner.

 

Duties:

Teaching:

  • Develop, maintain and evaluate student learning programs, projects and associated materials.

Assessment:

  • Conduct required pre-training assessment reviews and assessment requirements connected to contract delivery for the program/s.

Industry Engagement:

  • Participate in the marketing and promotion of the courses by liaise with industry contacts, networks and learning communities.

Quality and Compliance:

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of quality assurance processes in relation to program and course administration, design, delivery assessment and evaluation of training materials.

Vocational and Industry Currency

  • Identify, create and participate in professional development relevant to teaching and the maintenance of vocational currency.

 

Skills and experience required:

  • Experience working in the Community Services Sector in government, public, private or community managed services.
  • minimum 2 years recent experience working in a counselling role and hold a qualification in counselling or related field that involves counselling, at Diploma level or higher (or equivalent qualification),
  • A Degree, Diploma or Certificate relevant in both content and academic level and industry experience relevant to Diploma of Community Services and/ or Certificate IV in Community Services, Cert IV in Mental Health, Cert IV in Alcohol and other drugs,
  • A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 or a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) including Design and Develop Assessment Tools (TAEASS502) and Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills (TAELLLN4111) or (TAELLN401A).
