Rumbalara Aboriginal Cooperative – Health & Wellbeing Services now have the following vacancy
Intake and Assessment worker – Woongi unit
Full Time – 38hours per week
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager of the Woongi program the Mental Health Intake and Assessment worker will be the first point of contact for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people seeking mental health services and support, and will conduct initial needs identification, risk assessment referral, and follow up for all services provided by the Woongi unit in the Local Government Area of Greater Shepparton.
About You
- Tertiary qualification (minimum level of certificate IV) in a health-related discipline (e.g., nursing, psychology, social work, community work)
- A sound knowledge of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander communities and relevant organisations within the Local Government Area of Greater Shepparton, and a demonstrated understanding of health and wellbeing issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Experience in a range of settings within the mental health system including working with the Aboriginal community.
- Significant experience in an intake and referral role or similar.
- Ability to provide psychosocial and emotional support to community members referred to the service as well as their carers (via phone or in person).
- Experience supporting individuals who have experienced complex problems such as substance use, mental illness/health, homelessness, and family violence.

- Hold Valid Driver’s License, without restriction.
- Have a current National Police Check, and Employee Working with Children’s Check or willing to obtain.
- COVID Vaccination Certificate in accordance with the government guidelines
