About the Opportunity
Carey is currently seeking a Student Guidance Coordinator who is passionate about supporting students’ wellbeing and resilience.
The Student Guidance Coordinator is required to work and operate effectively across a multidisciplinary framework. The successful incumbent will need sound engagement skills and the ability to establish and develop professional relationships, supporting students, staff and families in assisting student personal development through the conceptual framework of restorative practice and positive psychology.
Reporting to the Head of Student Wellbeing, this role has student engagement and wellbeing, outreach and administrative components. The key function of this role is to develop and maintain positive student wellbeing across the school, in line with school policies and procedures. In addition, the role requires the capacity to work cooperatively with school leadership and communicate effectively with all members of the school community, including staff, parents and professionals from external agencies. The Student Guidance Coordinator needs to be able to respond quickly to unexpected events and identify potential wellbeing concerns for students.
This position will primarily support Senior School students (Year 10 – 12) and work closely with the Head of Senior School, Deputy Head of Senior School – Student Wellbeing and the Head of Student Wellbeing. This is a full-time contract opportunity to commence in Term 4, 2023 until the end of Term 3, 2024.
About you
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Qualifications in Social or Youth Work (highly desirable)
- Experience in developing student wellbeing programs
- A knowledge of school systems
- Exceptional communication and rapport building skills
- Passion and genuine concerns for the development of young people and their welfare
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team as well as collaboratively with partnerorganisations/services
- Empathy and commitment to improve the quality of life for youth and their families
- The ability to work with young people ensuring a client centred approach at all times
A valid Employee Working With Children Check is a requirement of employment in this position.
