About the role

South West Healthcare (SWH) has a new, exciting opportunity for a Disability Liaison Officer (DLO) to join our team as the primary contact point to support people with disabilities to access SWH services.

The purpose of the Disability Liaison Officer (DLO) is to support inclusive, equitable and safe access to healthcare for people with disability.

 The DLO is the predominant contact point for people with disability to provide support to access health services. The work includes but is not limited to helping people attend appointments, linking people with relevant health services, supporting people during their hospital stay, exploring options for preventative healthcare and helping people access assessment and treatment services. The DLO will work to address barriers that prevent people with disability from accessing services including fear, uncertainty and issues with accessibility. 

  • This is a permanent full time position, 80 hours per fortnight with a monthly ADO.

 What you bring

 The successful applicant will be passionate about supporting people with disability and have recognised experience and knowledge in the field of disability. They will be able to apply policies and processes to meet challenges of known and evolving disability support situations. Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication are critical for this position along with a proven ability to work autonomously and within a team.

 Nursing or relevant Allied Health qualifications (i.e Social Work/Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy) are essential and qualifications in disability are highly desirable.
