Job Description
Based in Ringwood and providing services to clients across the Maroondah and Knox region, you will be working collaboratively within and across our integrated (multi disciplinary) teams to provide art based therapeutic interventions to children, families, and adults through individual work and some group work when required.
The position will have a particular focus on working with children, families and adults affected by family violence or other forms of trauma. This position will require completion of the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM) when needed and also sits under the Family Violence and Child Information sharing scheme.
Your days will vary and will include;
- Both face-to-face and telehealth art focused on short to medium term counselling (up to 12 sessions), with a primary focus on adults and children, addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, grief, stress, parenting, loss, trauma, and family violence
- Providing a range of evidence based therapeutic interventions
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessments and support clients to identify goals, develop art-based interventions and therapeutic plans
- Undertake adult & child continuous risk assessment and safety planning
You will ensure you work collaboratively with the wider team and will be supported to contribute to a workplace environment which supports peers, develops teamwork, and ensures the provision of quality services.
Qualifications
We are looking for an art therapist who brings experience in a range of art based therapeutic frameworks suitable for supporting adults, families and children with a range of issues. You will need to be an excellent communicator, with a strong commitment to quality client service provision.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in a range of art based, trauma informed, therapeutic inventions suitable for adults, families and children
- Demonstrated understanding and/or experience in working with family members particularly those who have been impacted by family violence
- Understanding of cultural issues in working with people who experience marginalisation including Indigenous, GLTBIQ and CALD communities, and experience in use of interpreters.
- Knowledge of the Family Violence MARAM Framework and proficiency in use of the MARAM FV risk assessment tools.
- 2-year Master of Art Therapy from an approved institute
- Relevant undergraduate tertiary qualification i.e., Social Work, Family Therapy
- Registration with the professional Arts Therapy association ANZACATA
