Vacro

  • Deliver the voluntary Family Visits Program in Victorian prisons and support families who are vulnerable or at risk
  • Dhurringile lead, 0.4FTE (2 days per week) until 30 June 2025 with a proposed extension to 30 June 2026
  • $93,860 + Superannuation (SCHADS Award 2010 – Level 5 pay point depending on qualifications and experience)

ABOUT VACRO

VACRO is a non-government, non-denominational organisation working with people in contact with the criminal justice system and their families.

Founded in 1872 (as the Discharged Prisoners’ Aid Society of Victoria), VACRO works closely with government and non-profit organisations.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Family Visits Program aims to promote family connectedness, build and strengthen women’s engagement skills, and cultivate positive pro-social relationships through video sessions. Bring your well-developed interpersonal skills and passion to support families impacted by the justice system.

This position offers flexible working arrangements including prison-based work at Dhurringile prison and remote/ work from home. However, there may be occasional work at other locations on an as needed basis. Occasional evening work is required.

This role involves service delivery of a new program so flexibility to adapt to changes for continued success of the program is essential.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Justice or other relevant field
  • Experience working with complex clients particularly those who have been in contact with the criminal justice system and their families.
  • Demonstrated ability working with vulnerable families with a focus on family strengthening and reunification
  • Knowledge of Family Violence and Child Information Sharing Scheme
  • Demonstrated ability to work within complex stakeholder environments
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, clients and stakeholders
  • Excellent computer literacy, including an ability to provide technical support to families as needed.
