Developmental Educator

About the Role: 3-month project

The Developmental Educator will be working closely with clients, families, networks and providers to make sure participants have strong, robust and achievable goals and supports to ensure progressive life and NDIS success. This is a project based role leading the development of individual goal support programs that will have positive, engaging and direct outcomes for people with a diverse range of support needs and ages.

You will work across the organisation to co-ordinate and direct client goal support and attainment for all clients. This role is key to driving client satisfaction, using strong reporting systems to demonstrate goal progression and attainment, and providing staff the guidance and direction on how to best support a client. 

This role will:

  • Work closely with clients, their families and other support networks to bring the very best outcomes.
  • Use your skills, knowledge and experience to prepare and develop client centred support programs in line with the current best practice.
  • Assist staff to understand, implement and deliver on designed programs for clients to the  highest standard.
  • Prepare Positive Behaviour Support Plans with clients/families and support staff to understand and implement. 

Skills and Qualifications 

  • A Bachelor of Disability and Developmental Education or equivalent qualification 
  • Current membership with Developmental Educators Australia Inc (or an equivalent professional body) 
  • Previous experience working with people with disability with high complex needs 
  • Current experience in the NDIS environment, including knowledge of the operations of local providers, LACS, the NDIA and NDIS Commission and other relevant agencies 
  • Experience in the development of positive behaviour support plans and strategies 
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Team orientated 
  • Driven by achieving quality outcomes

Our client is committed to the safety and protection of all children and vulnerable people and all applicants will be considered in accordance with our safety requirements.

You will be required to have, or be willing to obtain:

  • Hold a National Police Check (NPC) 
  • Hold a working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Hold an NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Hold a current Australian issued Driver’s Licence
  • Current Provide First Aid certificate 
  • Training: Safe Environments for Children and Young People (or willingness to obtain) 
  • Ability to work outside of normal office hours may be required  
  • Travel within South Australia
