Act for Kids is a prominent provider of prevention, professional therapy and support services for children who have suffered abuse and support for families at risk. With over 25 centres nationally, we have supported thousands of children and their families for more than 30 years. In 2021 – 2022 we provided services to 39,002 people, including over 23,000 children.

About the job…

We are seeking a full time Program Manager to join our caring, compassionate and friendly team in Townsville until 31 December 2026 with possibility for extension.

Extension of employment contract beyond this date is subject to the continued successful government funding of the program.

This role will be responsible for managing the Intensive Family Support (IFS) service in Townsville to build the capacity of families in the region to care for and protect their children. The role of the IFS is to deliver intensive, time-limited support services and supported referrals to internal and external specialist services to address multiple and/or complex needs of families and improve family well-being, strength and resilience.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead a team to deliver high quality outcomes within a performance planning and development culture.
  • Manage risk for children and families working with the IFS.
  • Implement and monitor the use of the shared practice framework and needs assessment processes.
  • Oversee the professional practice of the Practice Supervisors via line management supervision.
  • Manage intake, referral, and engagement processes to meet output and outcome requirements.

About you…

  • A tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (allied health, social work, human services).
  • Professional registration (if required).
  • Membership of a relevant professional association (desirable).
  • At least 5 years’ experience managing a multidisciplinary team in a similar environment.
  • Highly developed knowledge of child protection issues and the child protection sector in Queensland.
  • Experience and capacity to foster and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders and the community.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.

About the pay…

  • Position is classified Level 8 under the SCHCADS award.
  • Salary range is $120,339 – $125,067 plus superannuation.
  • In addition, as a registered Not for Profit/Charity, we offer excellent salary packaging options through RemServ which can significantly increase your take home pay.

  • Eligibility for a positive Working with Children Check in the applicable state of employment in Australia or exemption based on professional qualifications and registration.
  • Current driver’s licence.
