• Permanent Part-time (3 days a week)

What You Will Be Doing

Peninsula Health currently has an opportunity for an experienced Spiritual Care Practitioner able to function autonomously and as part of an established team, providing spiritual care support across all of our Peninsula Health sites to consumers, families and carers.

Our Spiritual Care team is supportive of all cultures, faiths and expressions of spirituality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide a safe and highly competent spiritual care service.
• Promote values of cooperation, teamwork, openness, collaboration, honesty and respect for others in all professional relationships.
• Offer timely, appropriate and confidential emotional and spiritual support to patients, families and carers related to a patient’s current admission.
• Refer to appropriate interdisciplinary services to meet needs identified by patient/family/carer during encounters that fall outside Spiritual Care’s scope of practice.
• Develop and facilitate professional development and education programs relating to spiritual care within the organisation.
• Respect the dignity, culture, values and beliefs of patients, families and carers.

What You Will Need

We anticipate you will have:
• Spiritual care experience within a health service.
• Demonstrated consistent, highly attuned self-awareness.
• Eligibility to become an advanced, waged member of Spiritual Care Australia, with an ability to function at Level 3 of the Spiritual Health Australia Capability Framework.
• Adherence to the Spiritual Care Australia Code of ethics.
• A minimum of two units of Clinical Pastoral Education (or equivalent)
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Theology/Pastoral Counselling/Social Sciences or equivalent.
• Awareness and understanding of diverse cultures, beliefs, practices and traditions.
• Professional behaviour and conduct which reflects self-initiative, confidentiality, self-evaluation and commitment to professional development.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills.
• Well-developed skills in Microsoft Office.
• Current driver’s licence.
• Willingness to work autonomously, as well as part of a cohesive and supportive team.
