Casual Coach – Life Skills Developer

This is not your ordinary agency work; we are a NDIS family seeking a committed and passionate Coach to deliver person-centred life skills support.  

Who are we?

You will be employed directly by a very special NDIS family to provide support services to Emily and her brother. As a family and Employer, we maintain the values of decency, respect, appreciation, and consideration for all team members inclusive of Emily, her brother, mother, and all coaches. We strive for an environment that is calm and responsive to life skills. 

About Emily:

Emily is a 28-year-old woman who is a passionate cat owner, a market stall holder, who is part of a tenpin bowling league, enjoys karaoke and has a love of performing arts and landscaping machinery. 

Emily requires 24/7 support and significant guidance in her daily life.

The purpose of this role is to coach Emily through her day-to-day life and to continuously develop skills in all aspects of her life.  As a team we are here to support Emily to increase her independence and capacity and to safeguard her quality of life whether that be via functional skills, social interactions, domestic and personal care, asking and accepting help, conflict, judgement, comparison, and other presented life lessons. Therefore we embrace the title of Coach as we require someone who is willing to support Emily to embrace all the valuable lessons that life presents her throughout her day.

The role:

As Emily’s coach, you can expect to do any of the following in each shift:

  • Attend community activities such as sailing, tenpin bowling, karaoke nights, and social gatherings, 
  • Assist with general errands, shopping, appointments, and banking 
  • Assist Emily in running her market business
  • Complete personal and domestic care duties and routines 
  • Fulfil her pet owner responsibilities
  • Complete projects 
  • Attend meetings and shift administration requirements
  • Build life skills through coaching and mentoring

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Adaptable, patient, and open minded 
  • Able to embrace the resistant behaviours that may initially be present when introducing new skills, and respect the family’s proven approaches on how to best support Emily
  • Value diversity and inclusion
  • Strong in administration and interpersonal skills
  • Confident and comfortable with public attention

Must haves:

  • Unrestricted drivers’ licence and suitable personal vehicle
  • Appropriate working rights in Australia
  • The ability to complete sleepover shifts
  • Commit to routine rostering practices
  • NDIS worker screening check

  • Base rate of pay $42.79 + penalty rates, allowances, and superannuation
  • In-depth training from her Allied Health Care Team
  • Stable and routine rostering practice, with the ability to move to a permanent position.
