JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Part-time: three weekdays per week with hybrid/flexible working arrangements, plus 2-3 flexibly rostered weekend shifts per calendar month 
  • Hourly rate: $41.52 – $44.68 + Super + Salary packaging + penalty rates for weekend work

Sydney Children’s Contact Service (CCS) is a federally-funded provider of centre-based supervised visits and changeovers for children up to 12 years of age and their separated parents. The service uses a child-focused, therapeutic, trauma informed, safety focused, integrated case management model of supervised contact, working with separated families who present with complex needs and high risk.

The Sydney CCS Case Worker role provides safety assessment and relevant case management to children and families impacted by family separation. 

We are searching for a Case Worker who is passionate about supporting families impacted by family separation. Whilst we would prefer experience in this field, our experienced, welcoming team would be happy to develop a candidate who can demonstrate an ethical and values driven approach to their work and with a genuine passion to make a difference in the Family Law sector.

About the Role:

Working closely with a small team comprising Practice Managers, Case Workers, and weekend contact workers, you will: 

  • Maintain a focus on the safety and wellbeing of clients and their families, underpinned by a thorough understanding of child development, child protection, and individual and systemic issues including Domestic and Family Violence
  • Undertake thorough assessment of risk factors for clients with particular regard to family violence and child protection
  • Deliver a range of child-focussed children’s contact services including assessment & safety planning; therapeutic case management; supervised contact & changeovers; provision of information & referral; and advocacy/liaison with stakeholders
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant legislation and of practice guidelines in accordance with Australian Children’s Contact Services Association (ACCSA) affiliation and comply with Department of Social Services funding guidelines and framework
  • Ensure client files are up-to-date and relevant service delivery data is entered in our Client Management Information System to fulfil Government administrative requirements.
  • Assist with operational & administrative tasks such as responding to subpoenas, creating staff rosters, and basic financial administration

About You:

To be a successful candidate you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social sciences, e.g. social work, psychology
  • Demonstrated capacity and skills to provide supervised contact and case management of separated families impacted by high conflict and multiple complex issues including family violence, mental health issues, and alcohol and drug addiction
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills including capacity & skills to write high-quality observational contact reports in limited time
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with Cultural and Linguistically Diverse Communities and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities
  • Demonstrated capacity and skills to undertake operational tasks, including managing electronic client files and data using an online Client Management Information System
  • Capacity to work 2-3 weekend shifts per calendar month, as a Senior Contact Worker
