About the Role
Barnardos are looking for a Case Manager for a full time permanent position in the Kinship Care Program based in Wyong, 2259

The Case Manager will be responsible for;

  • Provide accurate information regarding the Barnardos Kinship Care Program to current and prospective Kinship Carers
  • Assess and provide recommendation of potential permanent and/or respite kin carers using the ACWA Step by Step materials.
  • Provide ongoing support to Kinship Care placements as required using a family support practice approach
  • Participate in developing and conducting group support and training for kinship carers
  • Liaise with other services working with the family
  • Assess and provide recommendation of potential restorations where appropriate
  • Develop a care plan for all children and young people through consultation and review with relevant parties annually.
  • Provide individual casework support to children and young people
  • Undertake the role of primary support worker, developing a positive and respectful relationship with the Kincare family. This involves home visits as required to address relevant issues within the framework of Barnardos policies and practices.
  • Facilitate and supervise contact with birth parents as required

About You
As a Case Manager, you will ideally have;

  • A degree (or tertiary qualification) in Social Work or a related area
  • Knowledge of issues surrounding abuse and neglect of children, and the impact of trauma on childhood development
  • Understanding of the case management requirements of the PSP/OOHC system
  • Understanding of the different support needs of relative and kinship carers to foster carers
  • Previous experience working in PSP/OOHC, child protection, or Intensive Family Support in a caseworker role
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with disadvantaged children and families in situations where additional support is needed

Salary: Base $71,136 to $87,961 per annum plus leave loading plus superannuation.  Packaging available to receive $15,860 of your salary tax free. Motor vehicle packaging available on selected roles.

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
