ABOUT THE ROLE
This position is accountable for providing career entry and transition advice, as well as job search and training advice to people who are looking to return to the workforce after redundancy, job loss and carer responsibilities and career breaks.

This role will focus on providing a confidential, professional and contemporary advice on sustainable industries, emerging careers and training linked to these opportunities on both a one-on-one basis and leading facilitated workshops.

The incumbent is a key and active participant of the Skills and Jobs Centre (SJC) team and provides expertise to the team on current recruitment and careers practise.

Key Accountabilities include but not limited to:

  • Provide career entry and transition advice to enable people returning to the workforce to make informed decisions regarding career opportunities and training
  • Provide support and advice regarding training and educational options to enable students who may be entering the job market for the first time or seeking a career change to understand the options available
  • Provide confidential, professional and contemporary advice on sustainable industries, emerging careers and training linked to these opportunities
  • Take responsibility for the wellbeing of clients/job seekers and other staff where risk is identified.
  • Employ measured responses to clients/job seekers complex concerns in a demanding and changing environment.
  • Remain current and provide specialist interpretation of current career practise and industry employment standards, changes in legislation, and policy to ensure accurate advice.

ABOUT YOU
You will have relevant qualifications, skills, and experience in the following:

  • A relevant qualification in Career Development or similar discipline or recognition of experience in career practise
  • Significant career counselling experience in in an industry environment
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated facilitating skills
  • Deep understanding of contemporary careers practise
  • High level of knowledge regarding current industry recruitment practices
  • Accurate reporting of activities and outcomes
