JOB DESCRIPTION

An exciting and challenging role exists for a Behaviour Support Consultant to join a Child & Family Services team in South Brisbane, Queensland.

The Behaviour Support Consultant participates in a multi-disciplinary service environment, providing positive behaviour support for children & young people in out-of-home care and people with a disability. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in support planning processes for clients to deliver coordinated, effective service provision that meets the client’s goals.
  • Provide positive behaviour support for children & young people in out-of-home care who exhibit severely challenging behaviour to assist them in developing positive behaviours and skills for community living
  • Work with stakeholders, carers, families, and advocates, ensuring that the expert clinical advice and services they provide are integrated into a broader whole-of-life planning and support
  • Provide clinical services that are based on quality assessment and practice standards to ensure good outcomes are achieved

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or other relevant field
  • Current registration in relevant Registration Body relevant to your qualification
  • Experience supporting teams through crisis intervention
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the development and implementation of behavioural intervention strategies, risk management strategies and skills development plans
  • Knowledge and experience in the provision of assessment, consultation and therapeutic interventions to children and young people within OOHC
  • Sound knowledge of Child Development, Attachment and Trauma theories and the ability to assist and train others to understand the implications of these for children and young people
  • Ability to travel interstate as required, predominately across Central Qld, South-East QLD and SA
  • Full Australian working rights
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
  • The successful candidate will be subject to extensive screening checks, including a national criminal history check, Blue Card and reference checks.
