ABOUT US
EACH has been successful in a funding bid to implement the Youth Enhanced Services (YES) program across the entire Eastern Primary Health Network catchment, with staff to be located at headspace Knox and the EACH office in Epping. YES provides support to young people aged 12 – 25 with complex and longstanding mental health issues, and their families.
ABOUT YOU
As Peer Worker you will provide recovery-orientated, peer support and practical assistance to young people utilising your own lived experience of recovery in a mental health context to instil confidence and hope in others about their personal recovery journey.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, clients, carers, and other community partner organisations in order to deliver the best possible comprehensive service to young people with mental health concerns.
- Engaging with young people to develop trusting and professional relationships to identify their needs and support them to reach their recovery goals.
- Providing opportunities to discuss problem solving strategies, reflecting on helpful and unhelpful behaviours.
- Encouraging and supporting clients to access and remain engaged with their support services.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
An ability and willingness to self-reflect and share own experiences of recovery with others for the benefit of advancing their recovery, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, families, colleagues, stakeholders, as this will be essential to the success of this role.
You will also have:
- Lived experience of mental illness and demonstrated experience of recovery.
- Experience of the public or private mental health system.
- Certificate IV or higher in a peer support, youth work, mental health, or related tertiary qualification (highly regarded).
- Current state-based driver’s license.
WHO YOU’LL BE WORKING WITH
This interdisciplinary team will include a Psychiatrist, Mental Health Clinicians, Family Therapist, Dual Diagnosis Clinician, Youth Peer Support Worker and Carer Peer Support Worker, and an Administration Officer.
