The Opportunity:
The role of the Intake Officer is to ensure that the young person who are referred to Samaritans Youth Specialist Homelessness Service receive a warm welcome in their time of crisis and receives clear information about what Samaritans can offer. You will ensure Young People are appropriately assessed, triaged, and connected with appropriate services based on needs.

Essential Criteria
- Certificate 3 in Business Administration, Community Services, Youth Services, or relevant experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in intake & assessment processes
- Understanding of, and ability to implement Trauma Informed Practices.
- Ability to build and maintain successful partnerships with other services.
- Understanding of Child Protection policy and procedures.
- Excellent organisational skills and experience managing a complex range of activities
- Ability to show initiative and work independently
- Demonstrated experience using word, excel and access programs
- Experience working with databases
- Strong attention to detail
- Understanding and practical application of confidentiality principles
- Demonstrated understanding of WHS responsibilities
Desirable
- Knowledge of trauma informed care and strengths-base practice
- Demonstrated experience in working with young people and families in crisis
