Who are you?

UNSW College is looking for a Senior Manager Student Wellbeing to join our wonderful Student Wellbeing Team! The successful candidate will have relevant Tertiary Qualifications in Social Work or Psychology, and management experience in similar setting/s, a strong understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, such as those related to student privacy and confidentiality, and cultural awareness and communication skills to liaise effectively with (international) students, staff, parents, health providers and other stakeholders to ensure effective and supportive outcomes for students.

What will you do? 

The Senior Manager Student Wellbeing leads the services that support the physical, mental and emotional health of student at the College. This includes leading the response to critical incidents; ensuring appropriate care and monitoring of international students who are under the age of 18 (CAAW) & equity students; overseeing the advice to students with a disability on equitable learning services; after-hours emergencies and health prevention; and incidental case management of students at risk when no other services are available.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Lead the Student Wellbeing team to deliver a high-quality student wellbeing service in accordance with UNSW College policies, the Higher Education Provider Framework, the ESOS Act, DHA regulations, CAAW arrangements or other relevant legislative and industry frameworks.  
  • Lead the strategic development and implementation of an effective student care framework for UNSW College aimed at the provision of appropriate care and monitoring of international students who are under the age of 18 years.
  • Lead Critical Incident Case management and ensure responses to critical incidents and emergency welfare situations (including afterhours cases as required) are managed in accordance with appropriate UNSW College policies, procedures or other relevant frameworks.
  • Lead and champion compliance of the student wellbeing services, including the compliance of all student related documentation and administration practices as per policies and procedures, ESOS and HES requirements

The successful applicant will have (but not limited to):

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Social Work or Psychology, and management experience in similar setting/s such as mental health, health or wellbeing services, including full and current membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Psychologist.
  • Experience in working in a trauma informed, victim centred manner, including experience in working with (but not limited to) people who have experienced intimate partner violence, bullying, harassment and sexual assault.
  • Demonstrated experience in case management, counselling or wellbeing roles with experience in managing complex psychosocial issues, behaviour management, crisis intervention, risk assessment and managing a demanding caseload.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing crisis management protocols and procedures to respond to student emergencies and critical incidents.
  • Track record of developing and implementing strategies to enhance (student) engagement and involvement in wellbeing initiatives and programs.
