Positions Available: Behaviour Support Practitioners
You have the opportunity to join the Practice Governance Unit (PGU) as a Behaviour Support Practitioner for an initial 3-month term, with the view to move to a permanent position.  

Role Summary:
As a Behaviour Support Practitioner, you’ll excel in delivering specialised support services.  Conduct comprehensive assessments, devise positive support plans, and implement tailored interventions.  Maintain compliance within frameworks, legislative mandates, and professional standards.  Prioritise client welfare, staff satisfaction, and contribute to continuous improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessment, collaborating with stakeholders to develop Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs).
  • Create PBSPs aligned with legal requirements and consider restrictive practices if needed.
  • Suggest environment changes and replacement behaviours, emphasizing safety and holistic assessment.
  • Develop and communicate contingency plans and behaviour support strategies for clients, families, and support workers.
  • Uphold compliance with legal, regulatory, and quality standards, including disability acts and NDIS frameworks.
  • Provide expert guidance on managing challenging behaviours through positive behaviour support practices.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, drive industry adjustments, and proactively address non-conformities.
  • Maintain precise record-keeping and timely reporting of client outputs.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Sciences, Education, or a related field.
  • Possess a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Health, Disability, or Community sectors.
  • Possess Core or Proficient Behaviour Support Practitioner Level or be prepared to acquire it.
  • Showcase skills in functional assessment, positive behaviour support plans, and comprehensive report writing.

 

Licences and Compliance:

  • Possess a valid Driver’s Licence
  • Hold Blue and Yellow cards.
  • Obtain Criminal History Clearance
