About the Role
Meli is excited to advertise for the role of Coordinated Intake Worker located in the Hamlyn Heights, Geelong. This position is full-time, fixed term until 31 August 2024.
The core purpose of this role is to provide an intake response to facilitate access to Meli’s range of services. This position will deliver a professional, inclusive and timely intake response through determining client need, conducting risk assessments and providing short term strategies including information provision, referral and brief interventions.
The key objectives of this role are:
- Provide a professional, socially inclusive, and timely response to intake streams, including face to face, telephone and online.
- Conduct individual assessments to determine need and program eligibility, including direct linkages to The Orange Door intake if appropriate.
- Undertake risk assessments and implement appropriate crisis intervention strategies where it is not possible or timely to refer to a crisis service.
- Provide current information on Meli programs and service delivery, including cost and waiting times.
- Utilise a strength-based framework to deliver brief interventions based on assessment of client need.

About You
- Holds a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Social Science, Human Services or equivalent. Or has a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in program or agency intake systems, discerning need, applying risk assessment frameworks and delivering appropriate interventions to achieve client-driven outcomes.
- Skills in engaging individuals with complex needs in telephone work and on a one-to-one basis, including individuals from a diverse background.
- Knowledge of broader client services system, legislation, support services and organisations.
