Peer Worker (Suicide Prevention) Sydney and Hunter ACON

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are excited to be offering the opportunity to apply for a part-time Peer Worker (Suicide Prevention) role.

We have two part-time roles available, one in the Hunter office and one in the Sydney office. Both roles are 42 hours per fortnight (0.6 FTE) on a 1-year fixed term contract.

These positions have come about through new funding to expand our Suicide Prevention and Aftercare service. Successful candidates will have significant lived experience of diverse genders and sexualities, and recovery from mental health or suicidal crisis. They will also have the ability to reflect intentionally and thoughtfully on their own personal lived experience of mental ill health to guide them in their role of providing peer support, mentoring and advocacy to people in our community who are in a current suicidal crisis or following a recent suicide attempt. They will work closely with Care Coordinator/Counsellors and the broader clinical and client services team to deliver wholistic person-centre support.

ACON can offer the successful candidates external peer supervision and professional development (as required).

Salary: $78,290 (TRP for FTE) including superannuation and leave loading, commensurate with skills and experience.

To apply, please review this Job Pack and submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) containing the ACON application form (available at www.acon.org.au/jobs), a current CV and a Statement Addressing the Essential and Desirable Criteria.
