Huntington’s Disease Specialist Advisor Huntington’s Australia

JOB DESCRIPTION

Huntington’s Disease Specialist Advisor (0.4 FTE)

This important and challenging role will suit an experienced individual seeking to work with people affected by Huntington’s Disease (HD) and their families.  HD-specific training will be provided as required.

The primary purpose of this role is to support people affected by HD to build resilience and mental health capacity through the professional facilitation of support groups and the delivery of therapeutic counselling.

As the only specialist HD Advisor providing counselling and facilitation of support groups in NSW or the ACT, there is no shortage of work or challenges. We are looking for someone who is an excellent communicator, with a genuine interest in supporting a vulnerable client group, while learning and expanding their knowledge and adapting to a changing environment.

Huntington’s NSW ACT is the peak body representing the Huntington’s community in NSW and the ACT. We support people affected by Huntington’s Disease (HD) to live their best possible life, while striving to eliminate the factors that make our organisation necessary. We provide leadership in Huntington’s disease information, education, awareness, support and advocacy.

Working from our cottage in West Ryde, with flexibility to work from home as well, you will be part of a growing, committed team working for a community-owned charity with extensive FBT benefits. On-site parking available; we are also a short walk to major bus and train routes.
