About us:

The Maryborough Neighbourhood Centre is looking for an experienced compassionate community Connect Worker to join our dynamic team under the Community Connect Initiative.  We are a community based organisation funded by the Queensland Government, Department of Treaty, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Partnerships, Communities and the Arts. We have been servicing the Maryborough community and its surrounding districts for the last 35 years.  We provide information, referral and advice service, and some advocacy work for the most vulnerable members of our community, and offers a broad range of services and activities that responds to local needs.

About the role:

The Community Connect Worker will:

  • Facilitate access of service users to services and support including the capacity to undertake some case coordination.
  • Develop close working relationship and network with local and specialist services across the region for referrals, support and assistance to individuals and families.
  • Establish appropriate procedures to manage referral processes to ensure support is provided outside of the program as required.
  • Provide intensive support to service users experiencing vulnerabilities and complex needs.
  • Develop and maintain a service mapping of local, regional and specialised services.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to arrange emergency assistance as required.
  • Promote the program through attendance in network meetings, community events and other relevant activities.
  • Implement relevant centre-based programs and activities to increase the profile of the program and attract eligible service users.
  • Work and be involved with neighbourhood centre services and programs.
  • This position reports directly to the Centre Manager or designated officer-in-charge.

About you:

  • Significant working experience in a similar position dealing with individuals and families with complex needs in a community services setting. Social Work or Human Services degree will be highly desirable.
  • Relevant experience and ability to work directly with service users experiencing vulnerabilities and disadvantage.
  • Experience in advocacy work and case coordination.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and reporting abilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of local, regional network of community services and relevant providers.
  • Ability to manage some financial matters relevant to the provision of financial assistance as required.
  • The successful candidate must be able to work independently with very minimal supervision and have the capacity to supervise volunteers if necessary.

Others:

  • The position is based on-site.
  • The position is  Contract Full-time for 12 months with the possibility of extension.
  • Willingness and capacity to work outside work hours to support service users if necessary.
  • Current or able to obtain Working with Children Blue Card.
  • Must have or able to obtain a National Police Certificate issued by Qld Police.
  • Must have a current driver’s license and private vehicle to travel to and from work.
  • Remuneration package for this position will be discussed with short-listed applicants.
