Veteran Wellbeing Officer (Gold Coast) RSL Queensland

JOB DESCRIPTION

Building bright futures for veterans on the shoulders of our past:

We are not who you think we are.

In mid-1915, soldiers who were injured in the landing at Gallipoli began returning home to Australia. Some of these Anzacs banded together “to lend a hand to deserving comrades who had fallen on evil days.” As the war continued and the years progressed, this association grew to become what is today known as the RSL. For over 100 years, RSL Queensland has been there to continue its important work of helping the “sick, helpless, wounded, aged, destitute and needy” among our veteran community.

RSL Queensland is currently undergoing expansion that it has not seen since the end of World War 2. Our Veteran Services team is growing to support the increasing number of ex-service personnel and their families who need our support. Our focus on building a brighter future for Australia’s veteran community remains as strong as ever, and we are doing it in surprising and innovative ways! From evidence-based interventions that make a real difference to veterans’ quality of life, to a best-in-breed tech platform that supports and enables veterans through membership, service delivery, and our Sub Branch network. Underpinned by funding from Australia’s most successful prize home lottery, our teams use their skills and experience to provide compassionate and beneficial outcomes for our veteran community.

About the role:

The Wellbeing team is part of RSL Queensland’s growing suite of Veteran Services. This role – which is referred to internally as a Wellbeing Advocate – focuses on building therapeutic relationships with veterans and their family by partnering them with local agencies, health practitioners, Government departments, and other ex-service organisations.
