Family Support and Wellbeing Service Support Worker

Wunan Foundation is a leading Aboriginal development organisation based in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Its purpose is to ensure that Aboriginal people enjoy the capabilities and opportunities necessary to make positive choices that lead to independent, fulfilling lives.

In partnership with Keyassets, Wunan deliver the Family Support and Wellbeing Service across Kununurra & Wyndham in the East Kimberley, supporting families to remain together, building strong and safe environments for their Children to grow and develop.

Wunan is seeking a Support Worker to work with Key Assets.

Key Duties

  • To assist and provide early intervention and preventative support that builds the capacity of communities, families and individuals to address their needs using tailored case management services.
  • Work cooperatively as part of a team
  • Participate in team meetings and team building activities
  • Engage families and community members with the service through in-house and outreach activities
  • Advocate with community members to enable them to better access services.
  • Identify issues impacting on clients and support required to address these issues
  • Work with clients to develop, maintain and review tailored Case Management Plans to address underlying issues
  • Develop an exit strategy for clients from the program that provides for the continued provision of external support where required
  • Maintain databases.
  • Have regular meetings/communications with Wunan Line manger

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrated understanding and/or skills in:
  • Cultural competence
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Capacity to engage the local community
  • Ability to promote participation by service users
  • Ability to assist in the collection and analyse of service usage data
  • Relevant previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Work collaboratively with all support services
  • Adhere to workplace health and safety responsibilities, including policies, operating procedures and instructions
  • Report and work to reduce all risks, hazards, near misses and accidents in accordance with established standards
  • Current Australian unrestricted ‘C’ class Driver’s license

Desirable criteria:

  • Relevant qualifications in case management.
  • Experience in maintaining database and data entry.

Pre-employment requirements

  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check(not older than 6 months)
  • Current Working with children clearance
  • Current Australian unrestricted ‘C’ class Driver’s license
