  • Level 6/7: $83,130 – $102,937 + 17% superannuation 

As a Counsellor at UOW, you will play a crucial role in delivering psychological and wellbeing counselling services as well as group treatment programs to our diverse student population. Your work will be aligned with the University’s strategic goals for enhancing the student experience, fostering engagement, and promoting student success.

This position applies a trauma informed strengths-based approach, working largely within brief intervention approaches, that draws upon students’ individual strengths and challenges to facilitate outcomes and their holistic engagement at UOW.    Working as part of a team responsible for coordination and provision of critical incident support, wellbeing, information, welfare, and referral across a wide network of services at UOW and to expert external services.  Specifically, the position delivers short and brief counselling and mental health interventions, including crisis intervention. Support and assistance span the continuum of services from, assessment, referral to support planning and referral. 

This role requires excellent knowledge and skills and ability to work through and interpret complex legislative and policy environments to directly assist students. The role will also contribute to a comprehensive and systemic approach to student wellbeing involving the development of prevention programs, training programs, building knowledge and communities and service improvement actions.
