About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to take up a new role, as our organisation’s Domestic Violence Service Manager.  This new position has been created in response to our organisation’s growth and advancements.

The purpose of the role is to manage and develop service delivery across all domestic and family violence program areas, ensuring innovative and contemporary responses and compliance with legislation and funding requirements. 

The role will lead the integrated service response and the operational delivery of the Townsville Domestic Violence Integrated Response (DVIR) Partnership, which includes Chairing the Townsville High Risk Team meetings.

This multifaceted role is vital to the effective delivery of services across our organisation and the Townsville DVIR Partnership to achieve positive outcomes for service users and the broader community, in line with our Strategic Plan.

About you

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate they are able to meet the following Key Selection Criteria

  • Degree level qualification in social work, psychology, social science, or human services (other disciplines will be considered).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience leading service delivery and managing a team of staff, ideally within the domestic and family violence or broader women’s sector. 
  • Strengths-based leader who embeds principles of empowerment, responsibility, and shared decision making across an organisation.
  • Has a deep knowledge of relevant legislation, guidelines, and standards and proficient at providing guidance to management and all staff on complex matters.
  • Creates space for and demonstrates highly sophisticated relationship and rapport building skills with staff, and stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrates superior and balanced decision-making skills within complex and challenging situations and environments, especially when met with adverse situations.
  • Thrives under pressure, able to manage high volumes of work in heightened environments with a blend of focus, pragmatism, quality, and productivity.
  • Accomplished and able to adapt and tailor approaches to ensure genuine cultural capability for self and staff to meet the context and experience of First Nations peoples.
  • Advanced communicator, verbal and written, to all audiences, cutting through complexity and being mindful of purpose.
  • Proficient at developing policy, procedure and systems that meet governance requirements and remains anchored in trauma-aware, healing-informed responses.
  • Has a strong and balanced risk management and mitigation lens at all levels of operations.
  • Able to build a culture of evidence to inform decision making, leading critical thinking and a commitment to evaluation and analysis.
  • Personal values match the organisation’s ethos: actively championing the vision, purpose and values of the organisation and maintaining a focus on the big picture.

General:

  • Highly competent with technology e.g., Microsoft suite of programs, and the ability to work within various databases. 
  • Current QLD C Class Driver’s License which must remain current during the term of employment.
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card) which must remain current during the term of employment.
  • Australia: National Police Check Clearance – at organisation expense.
