Counsellor/Psychologist Journey Counselling and Life Skills

JOB DESCRIPTION

Due to expansion, we are seeking a Counsellor or Psychologist to join our  ‘Journey Family’. Journey Counselling and Life Skills provide support for participants of the NDIS and private clients. 

Based in Queanbeyan (next to Canberra), we have been voted the best counselling practice in the region for 2022, a finalist in the Local business Awards of 2022 and 2023.  

Our work with the NDIS is alongside people with physical and mental disabilities assisting them to develop their daily living skills and building solid relationships in the community.

In our team you will be a valued member who becomes part of our Journey Family and you will be respected for the knowledge and experience you bring with you.  We love what we do and recognise that we each bring our own skill set to the position.  We practice a strength based approach in a person-centred supported environment.  This position is responsible for the provision of effective, high quality and sensitive individual counselling.   We offer a welcoming and flexible work environment.

Working up to 10 hours per week, you will provide counselling and therapeutic services to clients in an empathetic and safe environment.  This position will use a variety of modalities including talk therapies and expressive therapies (art therapy) at times.  Salary will be negotiated dependent upon experience.

Ideally you will have experience in mental health challenges and an understanding of the support required for people experiencing distress using a recovery oriented practice.

It is essential that you hold qualifications in Counselling or a related field with the eligibility for membership associations including but not limited to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), Australian Counselling Association (ACA) or the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
