We are excited to offer this opportunity for a Youth Engagement Worker to join our professional and dedicated Youth team.
This is a Full Time role offered for a Fixed Term period to 30 June 2024, with the potential for an extended contract.
About Us
Bellarine Community Health (BCH) is the major provider of primary health care services to the Bellarine Peninsula. BCH is a not-for-profit health care provider with close links to our community operating from five sites across the Bellarine.
About the Team
BCH’s Youth team provides a diverse range of primary health care services to our increasing population. Currently we deliver services across our sites including headspace Ocean Grove, BCH youth services, Doctors in Secondary School clinic, within schools and community settings.

About the role
As one of the first contact points for young people accessing the headspace Ocean Grove satellite and Bellarine Community Health Youth service, the Youth Engagement Worker will need to engage, assess and coordinate care for young people aged 12-25 years.
The Youth Engagement Worker works as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including general practitioners, allied health clinicians and support staff. They will also work closely with local community, you and health services to provide holistic and integrated care.
We would like to hear from you, if you have…
- Tertiary qualifications in mental health, youth work, or a related discipline.
- The ability and understanding to:
- undertake intake and screening activities, including comprehensive bio-pyscho-social assessments, and assist clients to access appropriate services.
- conduct risk assessments, including suicide and violence risks, and develop action plans.
- deliver brief therapeutic interventions, counselling services and treatment planning.
- Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team environment and coordinating care within the youth and/or mental health sector.
- Knowledge and understanding of mental health, including related evidence-based interventions and clinical practice.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a diverse range of people.
- Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise complex workloads and competing tasks.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively as a productive, professional and positive team member.
