About us

Community Action for Better Living Inc. (CABL) is a not-for-profit community service based in Burwood NSW. CABL provides a Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (WDVCAS), Meals on Wheels (MOW) and a Family Support Service. Our highly skilled and professional staff team provide trauma-informed, client-centered and culturally safe support to clients from the councils of Burwood, Canada Bay, Strathfield and parts of the Inner West. CABL Family Support provides a range of services to support to families with dependent children who are having trouble managing as a result of internal or external stresses of life. It is a preventative service, funded by DCJ’s Targeted Early Intervention (TEI) program, with a focus on strengthening and building on family members’ existing skills. Family services focus on encouraging and developing positive relationships within families and promoting environments which value, nurture and protect children.

About the role

The Family Support Program Coordinator will have the following responsibilities: 

1. Community Consultation: Conduct consultations with community members and service providers to gather feedback, identify needs, and explore potential responses. 

2. Program Development and Delivery: Continuously review existing programs and group work strategies and develop future activities based on community feedback and identified needs. 

By fulfilling this role, Family Support Program Coordinator will actively engage the community, develop impactful programs, and contribute to the overall vision and mission of CABL in supporting the well-being and development of families in our community.

Qualifications & experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in the social sciences (preferably a degree although a lesser qualification may be considered with extensive experience)
  • Training in trauma-informed care and cultural competence and demonstrated experience in using these models
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in community program development, review and delivery
  • Skills in leading groups involving vulnerable clients with complex issues
  • Sound knowledge of the key issues in child protection and family support, including relevant legislation, regulations, policies and frameworks
  • Case management experience

The position is full-time 38 hours per week and is level 5 of the SCHADS Award. Salary packaging is available.
