ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Student Wellbeing Officer offers a broad range of services to students including short to medium term support and assistance with strategies to help them achieve positive outcomes in their wellbeing and education. 

You will use a collaborative approach to assist students in managing wellbeing challenges as they arise. You will serve as the primary point of contact for students and families seeking general support, advice and assistance and ensure that students are linked to appropriate internal and external parties for further support when required.

You will be an experienced provider of strengths-based support services and an experienced communicator with the ability to build rapport with students. You will enjoy engaging with people, building and maintaining effective relationships, have a proactive approach to your work, and the desire to assist students to gain the skills they need. 

Mandatory requirements

  • Relevant vocational qualifications (Diploma or above) 
  • Experience in provision of support services
  • Current Victorian Working with Children Check

ABOUT YOU:

You will be focused on building positive relationships, passionate about student wellbeing and engagement programs for children and have a strong desire to create positive experiences.

Above all you will have a drive for creating opportunities for development, inclusion and engagement and a commitment to providing a safe environment for the children in the service. 

 

As the Student Wellbeing Officer you will:

  • Actively lead and follow up with students who require academic and/or welfare support and engage in intervention where required
  • Deliver counselling and consulting services for students with a focus on prevention, intervention, student learning and engagement
  • Take a proactive approach to embedding wellbeing and mental health resilience into the student experience through providing workshops, programs and resources that support students mental wellbeing in the context of their education

As a professional educator you will need:

  • You must have a relevant vocational qualifications  (Diploma or above)
  • You will have a passion for student wellbeing and engagement
  • Relevant experience in providing wellbeing, welfare and inclusion
  • Pride yourself on engaging effectively with the children in your care and their families
  • Effective high level communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Possess a Working with Children’s Check and Frist Aid accreditation (Certificate II)
