The Katherine Women’s Crisis Centre (KWCC) is passionate and focused, working to support and maximise the safety of women and their children experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence in the greater Katherine region. KWCC team consistently work together to create an environment conducive to healing and empowerment
KWCC is a not for profit organisation with programs aimed at preventing and addressing domestic and family violence by working with women, men, young people and children through its multiple programs.
KWCC prides itself on providing a safe, confidential environment for support, advocacy, assistance and empowerment at a time when women need it the most.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Womens Shelter (Crisis Accommodation Centre) is one of the vital programs of the organization and it operates 7 days a week 24 hours a day and provides supported crisis accommodation to women & their children escaping domestic/family violence.
The Centre aims to enrich women’s lives by supporting their individual choices, through information, advocacy and empowerment, and provides the following services:
- 48 hours crisis response
- Supported crisis accommodation
- Risk assessment and safety planning
- Information on domestic, family and sexual violence
- Advocacy
- Case Management
The work schedule for this position is a rolling 7 day roster system.
ABOUT YOU
As a Domesticc, Family, Sexual Violence Case Worker, you will have
- Diploma or higher education in Community Services or related field, or relevant experience
- Case management experience
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Strong advocacy skills
- Proven Ability to screen and assess risk
- Sound knowledge of domestic, family and sexual violence and its impact on victim/survivor, children and community
- Knowledge of culturally appropriate case management support from a client centered, strengths based, trauma informed approach.
The role requires you to be resilient, practice non-judgement, have empathy, and walk beside the women.

Due to the inherent nature of the DFSV Refuge Case Worker duties it is necessary that the position be filled by a female.
