Job Title: Peer Support Worker – Forums

  • Part-time options 
  • Salary: $36.00AUD Per Hour 
  • Location: Melbourne, Carlton 
  • Contract: Fixed-Term Contract until 30th June 2024 – potential extension 
  • Hours: Part-time – Monday, Tuesday & Friday 4pm – 9pm
  • Flexible working – hybrid ways of working, 1 day from the office

Day-Day Duties: 

SANE’s Peer Support Worker (Forums), monitors and moderates user-generated content to ensure that SANE’s online communities are maintained as a space that facilitates the safe sharing of personal stories.

  • Monitor discussions, posts and content across all channels for clinical and organisational risk.
  • Review and assess content (posts/chats/messages etc) submitted by service users and action or escalate where required.
  • Monitor and moderate correspondence with service users to resolve and action issues, feedback and complaints.
  • In line with SANE’s Forums Guidelines, ensure that posts and correspondence across all channels are maintained and responded to in a timely manner.
  • Manage queries, complaint and feedback in a professional and timely manner and liaise with internal stakeholders where required.
  • Escalate matters to the appropriate departments or managers where required.
  • Actively monitor and assess online channels for risk and identify areas for improvement.
  • Purposefully and safely share parts of your mental health and recovery journey to support service users including to build hope, promote empowerment, share information and resources, and support agency and autonomy
  • Provide peer support across a range of digital health platforms and programs
  • Apply and uphold the values and principles of peer work including but not limited to, recovery, strength, ability, and possibility focused during all interactions with service users, internal staff members and stakeholders
  • Work within the principles of recovery-oriented practice, person centred care, trauma informed practice and culturally competency frameworks
  • Document accurate and thorough case notes & incident reports around encounters with service users Maintain accurate and timely records of contacts and other activities utilising Salesforce, Microsoft Office, The SANE Forums and SharePoint
  • Uphold ethical guidelines and professional standards including self-care responsibilities, professional boundaries, and service boundaries in collaboration with your manager

Experience/Qualifications: 

  • A minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, Mental Health, Community Services, Intentional Peer Support (Lived Experience) – Essential      
  • Previous experience in Mental Health Peer Work, peer facilitation or lived experience workforce roles for a minimum of 1-2 years – Essential 
  • Personal lived experience of mental health concerns, service use and recovery, and a willingness to share your story purposefully to support the mental health of others. 
  • A willingness to complete training in ASIST, Trauma Informed Care, Safe Story Telling and Intentional Peer Support. 
  • Experience working in telephone based or online environments, in particular tele-web service delivery in mental health services. 
  • Full Working Rights in Australia
