About the role

This role will focus on leading the integration and provision of evidence-based care to young people with mild-moderate presentations of eating disorders as part of core business for headspace services. Partnering with InsideOut Institute, the project will adopt implementation approaches to drive systems level changes to clinical service delivery, as well as policy and system advocacy, aiming to strengthen the capacity of headspace services to deliver eTherapies to young people experiencing mild-moderate eating disorders.

This exciting and rewarding position is responsible for:

  • Leading the design, development, and implementation of an activity workplan and framework for the integration of eating disorders detection and treatment, to support service delivery across the headspace network.
  • Actively engage with headspace centres to determine needs, readiness assessments and facilitate access to training, the use of brief Binge Eating eTherapy (BEeT) in services, and implementation support for delivery and sustained practice.
  • Providing consultation, guidance and support to stakeholders and to clinical leaders across the network in relation to young people experiencing difficulties with disordered eating
  • Lead initiatives and projects that support the improvement of the integration of eating disorder services and enhance the quality and range of services available.

Who we’re looking for

headspace is seeking someone with significant experience and skills in clinical practice in youth mental health, who is inspired by our aim to support headspace services to provide quality, evidence-based care to young people across Australia. The following are selection criteria:

  • Approved tertiary qualifications in an allied health discipline relevant to clinical mental health, and eligibility for membership of an appropriate professional body (AHPRA, AASW).
  • Extensive experience in in the application of clinical practice in youth mental health with significant exposure to work in early intervention for young people experiencing disordered eating and their families. This should include a level of clinical skill in assessment, case formulation and interventions.
  • Expert knowledge of the rationale, evidence and treatment for early intervention in youth mental health and eating disorders, with experience in the use of eTherapy programs and services.
  • Demonstrated project management, training and facilitation skills and experience, and knowledge of implementation science, knowledge translation theory and practice
  • Proven ability to provide expert advice and consultation of a complex clinical nature to other mental health professionals and leaders
  • Highly regarded team player with a reputation for working collaboratively to solve problems and a proven track record in stakeholder relationship management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including experience reporting to senior managers and/or executives.
