Domestic and Family Violence Support Worker Uniting NSW & ACT

JOB DESCRIPTION

This role is responsible for supporting Domestic and Family Violence victim survivors in a crisis accommodation setting. We are a feminist service dedicated to empowering women and young people, ensuring their right to experience safety.

  • Full time in Parramatta area 9:00 – 5:00 pm
  • DFV, MH or Child Protection experience necessary

Specialist Homelessness Services of Uniting provide crisis support and case management to families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness due to experiencing Domestic and Family Violence.

Role Overview:

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with intake and assessment
  • Implement and follow up on case plans
  • Work in conjunction with the Case Managers as well as independently
  • This also includes performing light cleaning responsibilities such as housekeeping, managing donations and preparing the accommodation for families. Please note this includes navigating stairs
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and eagerness to learn

About you in the role:

  • Certificate IV (minimum) in Community Services, Mental Health, Youth Work or other relevant field
  • Experience working with Victims of Domestic and Family Violence or with women and children
  • Knowledge of Specialist Homelessness Services
  • Ability to think on feet and support women and children who may be experiencing complex issues
  • The ability to ensure the client is in the centre of all the work we do
  • An understanding of the complexities of Domestic and Family Violence
  • The role is designated for a female under section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act
  • Current Driver’s Licence – able to drive a People mover – van
