Tumbelin Farm is an intensive residential adventure therapy program for 16–21-year-olds whose use of alcohol and other drugs (AOD) is having a negative impact on their life and are seeking to make a change. It is an early intervention program working within an adventure therapy framework to overcome their challenges with drug and alcohol use. The counsellor engages with the young person and their circle of support at the point of referral to engage them in family group conferencing and decision making, assisting them to develop a community re-engagement program. This is not your traditional counselling role, day to day you will be situated on the farm (10 minutes outside of Mt Barker) working alongside a multi-disciplinary team, including the program lead and case manager, Adventure Therapy Practitioners and the Farm Supervisor.

  • Coordinate Tumbelin Alumni activities, including the provision of lived experience support to other young people and their COS members who have been referred to Tumbelin Farm

About you:

Outside of 1:1’s and group work, you embrace the day-to-day activities that the residents participate in on the farm, and you relish in the chance to further build your connections by supporting them in this. You are someone who has a deep understanding of the complex needs and behaviours that our clients have, including the comorbid nature of AOD addiction, mental health and trauma. You love the great outdoors, and the prospects of a unique working in environment like a working farm, ticks all the boxes for you.
