The Role

Are you an experienced and skilled counselling professional who has a passion for engaging with children and young people? If so, we are seeking applications for School Counsellor roles to join our College to provide professional counselling services to our students from Prep – 12. We have possible full time and part time positions available, and hours will be negotiated with suitable candidates based on preference and College needs.

You’re a good fit for this position if you:

  • Possess experience, skills, and knowledge with working with students with trauma and/or are ‘at risk’ of being disenfranchised from school.
  • Hold strong communication and assessment skills to read situations, understand context, connect related facts and draw preliminary conclusions to move students to the next steps in counselling or develop a plan of action to resolve issues.
  • Show a commitment to understand trauma, mental health, and social and emotional development that supports the best outcome for the student.
  • Demonstrate a calm and patient approach to working with all College community members.
  • Have the capacity to make sound professional judgements with autonomy.
  • Value the importance of child safety and maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards child abuse.
  • Thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with colleagues and community members actively contributing to the school’s community and ethos.
